This is the art of letting be. Martial art and modern dance are reciprocal and resonating, creating a dialogue between the traditional and the modern world.
In Action without Action, choreographer Hua Bi-Yu incorporates the tension and repose of modern dance and martial art to interpret the philosophy of Laozi and Eastern aesthetics. The product is an aesthetic body movement that has never been seen before. Artists of different fields in art collaborated to breakthrough the traditions as an attempt to create a new vision for performing art.
Martial art and dance movements are combined through the exploration of Taoism. The two become one. Action without action, do without trying to do. When one acts, the others will follow. That is the highest state of being.
